Recommended reading

If anyone is looking for some good reference books before during or after pregnancy, here are the ones I recommend:
"Taking Charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. Also look on www.tcoyf.com.
"The Breast Feeding Mothers Guide to Making More Milk". Sorry, I can't remember the names of the authors, but this book is really good for those with low milk supply. Brendon was born with a tongue tie and I had flat nipples, this book addressed these issues plus more. I found it was really helpful as it looks at all the research into low milk supply, the causes and how to rectify the problem. Brendon was three weeks old when I finally managed to get him attached. We then spent time in Torrens House, where you have a midwife help you with every feed. Slowly but surely we overcame all the problems and Brendon was fully breast fed by Christmas.
"What to expect when you're breastfeeding, and what if you can't" was also another good book.

  1. Hello Pauline! Love the blog. So glad you got all the breastfeeding problems under control, it can be so tough. Maya was born with severe tongue tie, and I remember how miserable we both were. I had hers corrected at about 10 days.

And if it makes you feel any better - breastfeeding is a hard job, no matter if it's your first or fourth, so you have done an amazing job :)

  2. Hi Charlotte,
It is interesting that Maya was born with a tongue tie as well. Brendon couldn't get his toungue out passed his gums so the doctor did it the next day. We were told if it wasn't done not only would we not be able to breast feed, but he would have a speech impediment.
Apparently tongue tie is an hereditary condition but we don't know of anyone in our respective families that has a tongue tie.
